Food Waste in California

U.S. food waste is estimated to be 30-40% of the food supply, and Californians throw away approximately 6 million tons of food waste annually. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is proud to partner with California farmers, ranchers and retailers to understand this issue, reduce food waste and increase food recovery. We encourage you to explore this website to learn more and join the effort.
