Food Waste in California

U.S. food waste is estimated to be 30-40% of the food supply, and Californians throw away approximately 6 million tons of food waste annually. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) offers this website to help Californians understand this issue, reduce food waste and increase food recovery.

(*Update: Since this video was made, the U.S. EPA has updated what percentage of wasted food ends up in landfills from 94% to 68%.)
