The Feed, Fertilizer and Livestock Drugs Regulatory Services (FFLDRS) Branch primary focus is to ensure in every way possible a clean and wholesome supply of meat and milk, and to promote environmentally safe and agronomically sound use and handling of fertilizer materials. This is performed through regulating manufacturing, labeling, and use of fertilizing materials, feed and livestock drugs.

The Commercial Feed Regulatory Program (CFRP) is responsible for the enforcement of California state law and regulations pertinent to the manufacturing, distribution and labeling of commercial livestock feed while preventing adulterated feed from being consumed by livestock and poultry.
The Livestock Drug program is responsible for the enforcement of California state law pertaining to the distribution, labeling and registration of livestock drug products. This includes Restricted Drugs, Veterinary Feed Directive drugs, and supplements for livestock, poultry and horses.
The Safe Animal Feed Education (SAFE) Program fosters voluntary compliance with the laws and regulations through outreach and education, research projects and voluntary feed quality assurance inspections.
The Antimicrobial Use and Stewardship Program (AUS) will provide voluntary antibiotic stewardship guidelines and best management practices to assist producers and veterinarians in minimizing the use of medically important antibiotics for livestock species and production types important to California.
The Fertilizing Materials Inspection Program (FMIP) is responsible for regulating the distribution and labeling of fertilizer materials in California, registration of fertilizing material labels, and assists in ensuring that fertilizer is safe, effective, and meets the licensee’s claims and guarantees.
The Fertilizer Research and Education Program (FREP) facilitates and coordinates research and demonstration projects by providing funding, developing and disseminating information, and serving as a clearinghouse for information on this topic. FREP serves growers, agricultural supply and service professionals, extension personnel, public agencies, consultants, and other interested parties.
