Archived Actions | Interior Quarantine

The proposed rulemaking will establish criteria for determining when an infestation is present, determining a quarantine boundary and removal of an area from quarantine. It will also provide the procedures for an appeal process and the website where the quarantined areas will be posted.

This amendment expanded the Oriental Fruit Fly quarantine area to a total of approximately 130 square miles surrounding the Anaheim and Artesia areas of Los Angeles and Orange counties. The effect of this change to the regulation will be to provide authority for the State to perform quarantine activities against Oriental fruit fly in these areas.

This amendment added approximately three square miles surrounding the Stockton area of San Joaquin County and approximately 75 square miles surrounding the Anaheim area of Los Angeles and Orange counties to the regulation as the areas under quarantine for Oriental fruit fly. The effect of this change to the regulation will be to provide authority for the State to perform quarantine activities against Oriental fruit fly in the Stockton area of San Joaquin County and Anaheim area of Los Angeles and Orange counties. This amendment added approximately 97 square miles surrounding the Stockton area of San Joaquin County to the regulation as an area under quarantine for Oriental fruit fly. The amendment also added cherries, jujubes, jharbers, Persian limes, bell or chili peppers, prickly pears and passionflowers as host plants to the regulation. The effect of this change to the regulation will be to provide authority for the State to perform quarantine activities against Oriental fruit fly in the Stockton area of San Joaquin County.
