Feed Inspection Advisory Board

The Feed Inspection Advisory Board (FIAB) was created under the authority of the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) exclusively to represent and further the interest of the commercial feed industry as intended to serve the public interest. The Board shall be advisory to the Secretary and may make recommendations on all matters pertaining to FAC Div. 7, Ch. 6, including, but not limited to, the inspection and enforcement program, annual budget, necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services, and regulations required to accomplish the purposes of the chapter. The Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the CDFA Feed Program and allocates responsibility of day-to-day operations to the Program staff. The Board may give advice and make recommendations concerning topics such as assessment fees, enforcement and legal services, the annual budget, and the adoption of new or amended feed laws and regulations, among others.

Feed Inspection Advisory Board Technical Advisory Subcommittee

The Feed Inspection Advisory Board (FIAB) of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) established the Technical Advisory Subcommittee (TASC) to advise the FIAB on animal food nutrition, safety, and efficacy data review of new and unapproved feed ingredients, research project oversight, and other issues that will affect the Commercial Feed Regulatory Program, Livestock Drug Program, and Safe Animal Feed Education (SAFE) Program. Members must demonstrate technical, applied, and scientific expertise in the fields of toxicology, pathology, and ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, as well as possess general knowledge of the California feed industry.

Fertilizer Inspection Advisory Board

The Fertilizer Inspection Advisory Board (Board) was created under the authority of the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) to promote the distribution of effective and safe fertilizing materials essential for the production of food and fiber and to ensure that consumers receive fertilizing materials that are safe and effective, and that meet the quality guaranteed by the manufacturer. The Board shall be advisory to the Secretary and may make recommendations on all matters pertaining to FAC Div. 7, Ch. 5, including, but not limited to, the inspection and enforcement program, annual budget, necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services, and regulations required to accomplish the purposes of the chapter. The Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the CDFA Fertilizing materials Inspection Program and allocates responsibility of day-to-day operations to the Program staff. The Board may give advice and make recommendations concerning topics such as assessment fees, enforcement and legal services, the annual budget, and the adoption of new or amended feed laws and regulations, among others.

Fertilizer Inspection Advisory Board Technical Advisory Subcommittee

The Fertilizer Inspection Advisory Board (FIAB) is a statutory body that is advisory to the CDFA secretary on matters pertaining to fertilizer issues, including FREP activities. The FIAB established the Technical Advisory Subcommittee (TASC) to advise the FIAB on matters related to the funding of FREP projects. The TASC serves as an expert scientific panel on matters concerning plant nutrition and on environmental effects related to fertilizing materials use. TASC assists in setting research priorities, reviews research proposals, and makes recommendations on projects for funding.

Members At least 9 Total Members to represent major segments of the fertilizer industry, certified crop advisors, technical experts, farming community, public, and governmental agencies. One member shall be appointed from the Fertilizer Board
