Jonathan Wachter

Dr. Wachter is a Senior Environmental Scientist on the climate change team at the California Natural Resources Agency working to support the Agency’s climate policies and strategic projects, including California’s Nature-Based Solutions Climate Targets and Climate Smart Lands Strategy. Previously, Dr. Wachter worked in the non-profit sector with a focus on advancing nature-based climate solutions through local and regional planning, building technical assistance capacity and expertise, and policy engagement. His experience includes working as a technical assistance provider for crop and rangeland producers; partnering with Resource Conservation Districts, local government, and community-based organizations across the state on capacity-building and climate action planning; managing State and Federal grants; and developing climate change mitigation and adaption curricula for training technical assistance providers. Dr. Wachter earned a PhD in Soil Science from Washington State University.
