CalRecycle and The California Department of Food and Agriculture are developing a statewide California agricultural compost strategy to advance the use of compost in agricultural production, and to better understand the generation and use of agricultural compost in the state. The need for a statewide compost strategy was called out in the Climate Resiliency Strategy for California Agriculture which is the first ever comprehensive overview of state actions designed to help the agricultural community prepare for, respond to, and thrive under the many conditions imposed by climate change.
