  • Responsible for plant virus diagnostics. 

1997-2001: SRA, Dept. of Plant Pathology, UC Davis

  • Study of Lettuce infectious yellows virus (LIYV, in the family Closteroviridae) insect transmission.
  • LIYV ultra structure: Demonstrated the polar virion structure using immuno-gold labeling and transmission electron microscopy.

1992-1996: Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher, Dept. of Plant Pathology, UC Davis

  • Evaluation of resistance of transgenic lettuce and Nicotiana benthamiana plants to LIYV.
  • Identification of the viral components in carrot motley dwarf complex.
  • Evaluation of the use of a baculovirus, Bombyx mori nuclear polyhedrosis virus (baculovirus), for protein expressions of the capsid protein, P19 and readthrough of beet western yellows virus (luteovirus), the capsid protein of bean golden mosaic virus (geminivirus), and non-capsid protein of maize stripe virus (tenuivirus).
