“Within California’s Ag Vision for the Next Decade, we prioritize fostering climate-smart, resilient, and regenerative food systems,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “This centers the focus on agriculture’s stewardship of water and natural resources to improve the land, enhance ecosystems and build soil health through the lens of equity and climate action.”

Invited speakers include: Elizabeth Whitlow, Regenerative Organic Alliance; Cannon Michael, Bowles Farming Company; Cynthia Daley, Center for Regenerative Agricultural & Resilient Systems (CSU Chico); Jeff Dlott, CDFA’s Environmental Farming Act Science Advisory Panel; David Ceppos, California State University, Sacramento; Laura Jensen, California Water Commission; Thea Rittenhouse, CDFA Farm Equity Advisor; Justin Hopper, CDFA Office of Civil Rights and other invited speakers.

“California’s agricultural diversity – from those that produce our food to how our food is produced - is a defining characteristic of farmers and ranchers in this state,” said President Don Cameron, California State Board of Food and Agriculture. “As we look at a public process to define regenerative agriculture for state policies and programs, we recognize and value the contributions and on-farm practices that a makes California a better place, because of what we grow and how we grow it.”

The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and consumer needs. The Board conducts forums that bring together local, state and federal government officials; agricultural representatives; and citizens to discuss current issues and concerns to California agriculture.
