SACRAMENTO, AUGUST 10, 2023 - The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is accepting grant proposals for the Additional Assistance for Historically Underrepresented Organizations Program.
This is offered in conjunction with CDFA’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP).
The intent of this new program is to provide a process through which organizations that have been historically underrepresented in the SCBGP can participate and successfully implement SCBGP projects.
Eligibility for this program includes non-profit organizations; tribal governments; and K-12 school districts that have not previously received SCBGP funding, do not have expertise with grant writing, and work directly with underserved and beginning farmers or provide access to specialty crops in underserved communities. Please note that organizations that have submitted Concept Proposals for the 2024 SCBGP through AmpliFund under other funding categories are not eligible to apply.
Awards will range from $100,000 to $250,000, and projects may last up to two years and eight months Specialty crops include fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture).
CDFA will conduct a webinar on the Additional Assistance Program, and more detailed information can be found in the 2024 SCBGP Additional Assistance Program Request for Concept Proposals.

Applications are due via email to grants@cdfa.ca.gov by Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. PT and can be obtained by visiting CDFA’s SCBGP website or by emailing grants@cdfa.ca.gov.
