"FRESH APPROACHES TO FERTILIZING TECHNIQUES" REFLECTS THEME OF NOVEMBER CONFERENCE

Conference to be held November 17-18, 2009 in Visalia

SACRAMENTO, September 9, 2009 – The California Department of Food and Agriculture is hosting a conference on fertilizing techniques on November 17-18, 2009 in Visalia, California. The conference, in partnership with the Western Plant Health Association (WPHA), will bring together agricultural supply and service consultants; growers; university extension specialist; crop advisers; researchers; and local, state and federal government officials.

The conference combines the 17th Annual Fertilizer Research and Education Program meeting with the Central Valley Regional Nutrient Seminar hosted by the WPHA.  Presenters from academia and agricultural sector will address pioneering research, practical fertilizer implementation and regulations. Topics to be covered will include nitrogen and water management as well as tools for plant nutrient management.

Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) and Pest Control Adviser (PCA) continuing education units (CEUs) will be available at the conference; 6.0 CCA and 1.5 PCA CEUs on November 17; 4.5 CCA and 1.0 PCA CEUs on November 18.

Early conference registration, prior to October 26, 2009, is $75 per day or $135 both days; enrolled student fees are $10 per day.  After October 26, registration fees are $95 per day or $170 for both days; enrolled student fees are $20 per day.
