SECRETARY KAWAMURA ANNOUNCES VACANCIES ON THE STANDARDIZATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE


SACRAMENTO – California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura is announcing eight member vacancies on the Standardization Advisory Committee. 


The Standardization Advisory Committee oversees the department’s standardization program that works to ensure that California’s fresh fruits and vegetables meet the quality standards that consumers expect. Of the eight vacancies available, four will represent the fresh fruit sector and four will represent the fresh vegetable sector.


The term of office for a committee member is two years.  Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to reimbursement of necessary traveling expenses. The committee makes recommendations to the secretary on all matters pertaining to the standardization program, annual budget and necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services.

Individuals interested in being considered for an appointment should send a letter of consideration and include a letter of recommendation from the industry to Dr. Amadou Ba, California Department of Food and Agriculture, Inspection and Compliance Branch, 1220 N Street, Sacramento, CA  95814.
