“Creating Healthy Choices” with art contest and school gardens
WHAT: The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) in collaboration with California Women in Agriculture (CWA) will host Ag Day 2006. The event will showcase the artistic talents of California’s school children, grades 1 thru 8. Schools throughout the state will participate in an art show that honors California’s agriculture products. The spotlight will also shine on statewide school garden programs that are created to promote healthy choices in nutrition and wellness. Western Growers Association will have on display a sample of the ideal school garden. This year’s theme, “Creating Healthy Choices,” promotes good nutrition and wellness, especially among school age children.
