SECRETARY KAWAMURA ANNOUNCES VACANCIES ON THE STANDARDIZATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

SACRAMENTO, CA – California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura has announced nine member vacancies for the Standardization Advisory Committee. Appointments will consist of four fresh fruit representatives, four fresh vegetable representatives, and one “other commodities” representative. The committee makes recommendations to the secretary on all matters pertaining to the Standardization Program, annual budget, and the necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services.

As stated in Article 6.5, Section 42809 of the Food and Agricultural Code, the committee will be composed of individuals who have a financial interest, either personal or through their employment, in a commodity represented.  The term of office for each member is two years.  Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to payment of necessary traveling expenses.
