CDFA ANNOUNCES VACANCIES FOR STANDARDIZATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND NAVEL AND VALENCIA ORANGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is announcing vacancies for two different advisory committees.

There are six vacancies for the Standardization Advisory Committee, which works on inspection issues regarding fresh fruits and vegetables. The committee makes recommendations to the Secretary of Agriculture on all matters pertaining to the standardization program, its annual budget, and the necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services.

The committee will be comprised of individuals who have a financial interest, either personal or through their employment, in a represented commodity.  The term of office for each member is two years.  Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to payment of necessary traveling expenses.

CDFA is also seeking nominations to fill three vacancies on the Navel and Valencia Orange Advisory Committee. Appointments will be from the Fresno, Kern, and/or Tulare Counties. The eight-member committee advises the CDFA Secretary on current issues related to inspection of the navel and Valencia orange industries.

Nominations for both committees will be accepted until the positions are filled.  Individuals interested in being considered should send a brief resume to Mr. Rick S. Jensen, California Department of Food and Agriculture, Inspection and Compliance Branch, 1220 N Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
