SACRAMENTO, April 19, 2001-California agriculture will be celebrating the life of one of its most passionate defenders on Saturday, April 21, 2001. Carolyn S. Richardson, who passed away last month after a lengthy battle with cancer, will be honored at 11 AM at the Sacramento headquarters of the California Farm Bureau Federation.
The Farm Bureau attorney was widely respected for her contributions to resource management and environmental quality. “Carolyn was always mindful of agriculture’s responsibility to protect the environment,” said CDFA Secretary William (Bill) J. Lyons, Jr. “We will miss her determined spirit on the many complex issues we face here in California. My heartfelt condolences go out to Carolyn’s family at this difficult time.”
CDFA welcomes the opportunity to join with Carolyn’s friends, family and colleagues in remembering a life rich with dedication and achievement. CDFA also enthusiastically supports the California Farm Bureau Federation’s establishment of a scholarship in Richardson’s name. Students specializing in agricultural resource issues could find no better role model.
