Exotic Pest Research Program
The program staff administers a competitive grants program for the research
of better lures, traps, and eradication methods. Departmental research needs
are incorporated in a Request for Proposals (RFP), which is sent to many
scientists and research institutions. Proposals received in response to the
RFP are screened by the Pest and Science Technology Screening Committee;
proposals which pass the screen are then evaluated by the Pest Management
Research Committee, which makes recommendations to the Secretary on which proposals to fund.
California Environmental
Quality Act
An Environmental Compliance Unit is also managed by
the Division. The primary function of the unit is to provide enviornmental
services to other branches of the division. This includes the assistance
in developing environmental compliance strategies for the various division
programs, preparing and defending environmental documents (environmental
impact reports or environmental impact reports on exotic pests), and
monitoring program activities to assure that the impacts of departmental
actions are mitigated and properly documented..
