STATE BOARD OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE SCHEDULE APRIL MEETING

SACRAMENTO, April 14, 2000 – The State Board of Food and Agriculture will host a public meeting on Wednesday, April 26, 2000 in Sacramento. The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) headquarters, 1220 N Street, auditorium, Sacramento.

The agenda for the Board includes updates from several of the Department’s divisions and a report on the current efforts of several CDFA projects.

The State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the Governor and the Secretary of Food and Agriculture on agricultural issues and consumer needs. Board meetings often bring together local, state and federal government officials, agricultural representatives and citizens to discuss current issues of concern to California agriculture. The Board’s 15 members are appointed by the Governor, and are selected to represent a broad range of agricultural commodities, geographical regions, and both the University of California and the California State University academic systems. Members serve four-year terms without pay. There are no term limits and appointments do not require Senate confirmation.

All State Board of Food and Agriculture meetings are open to the public. For more information, contact CDFA’s Office of Public Affairs at 916/654-0462 or Vanessa S. Arellano, Executive Director of the State Board of Food and Agriculture, at 916/653-7643.
