AGRICULTURAL SECURITY AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE OFFICE
While a high degree of specialization in California's agricultural oversight is tremendously beneficial to the industry and to the consumer, it does pose certain challenges when it comes to responding to an agricultural emergency.
The Agricultural Security and Emergency Response (ASER) Office is responsible for centralizing CDFA's business functions to administer a comprehensive emergency management infrastructure, which is central to the department's primary mission to provide a safe, nutritious, and plentiful food supply in a fair marketplace. ASER's mission is to manage a complex program relevant to the four phases of emergencies (planning, responding, recovering, mitigating), enabling CDFA to respond to future emergency events in the most effective and efficient manner utilizing personnel who are well trained and equipped with the appropriate plans and resources. The ASER Office will serve as the central point of contact for the department regarding emergency response issues and will formulate policies, ensuring compliance with legislative mandates, including both Federal and State regulations and guidelines.
