Health requirements for admitting Ratites into California
All RATITES (ostriches, emus, rheas) must be apparently healthy. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued by an accredited veterinarian is recommended.
It is recommended that the flock of origin is National Poultry Improvement Plan pullorum–typhoid clean, or has the equivalent approval rating from the state of origin. Birds from non–qualified flocks should have a 30–day negative test for Salmonella pullorum.
