FARM BILL: Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)
This existing program targets cost-share and technical assistance for approved conservation practices. Priorities for the application of program funds are determined by local resource conservation district (RCD) led work groups. Improvements to EQIP include: An increase to the grower payment cap; shorter contract terms; no "bid-down" process to determine payments; and, increased emphases on confined animal feeding operations (e.g., dairies), air quality and nutrient management.
