Feeding of the Fruit Flies

The employees obtain trays of cooled agar from the Kitchen. The agar is then cut into 10 blocks and two employees work together to place a block of agar on top of each PARC box. After all of the agar has been placed, the employees work to assemble the PARC box stacks.

As the Medflies emerge from their pupal stage, they crawl up the sides of the paper bags and then fly to the top of the PARC box to feed. The Medflies are kept in the incubation trailers for four days. On day four, the adult Medflies are transported in the PARC boxes to a refrigerated trailer in preparation of the knock down phase.
