SACRAMENTO, June 29, 2022 - The Farm Equity Office at the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) is seeking three (3) external reviewers to be part of an external technical review panel as part of the application process for a new grant program: the Beginning Farmer and Farmworker Training and Workforce Development Program (BFFTP).
This program, funded through the 2021 California general fund budget, is designed to provide support to organizations to enhance or expand beginning farmer and farmworker training/apprenticeship programs. The overall goal of the program is to ensure that resources are dedicated to strengthening support for socially disadvantaged and/or beginning farmers and ranchers in the first ten years of business, and farmworkers who need job skills training to provide job sustainability.
The external technical review panel will consist of members of the public who have expertise working with socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers and/or farmworker training/workforce development programs as outlined in the funding track(s) they review.
Individuals who are interested in learning more about becoming an external technical reviewer of the 2022 BFFTP grant program can find more information on the BFFTP program website, and apply to be a reviewer by completing the BFFTP Technical Review Form available through this link:
Applicants to any of the three funding tracks of the BFFTP grant program, including partnering organizations or individuals affiliated with applicants may not participate in the external technical review process.
2022 BFFTP technical review panel applications will be accepted from June 15th through July 15th, and all applicants will be notified of a decision by July 22nd.
The external review period will begin on or around August 15, 2022, and continue for three weeks. During this review process, each technical reviewer will have approximately 3-5 applications to review. The time commitment to review each application will be of approximately 40-60 minutes.
Participation in the 2022 BFFTP external technical review panel is voluntary, there are no payments available for external reviewers. For more information on the 2022 BFFTP grant program and external technical review panel, please contact:
