2022 PET LOVER’S

Pet Lover’s makes available up to $488,000 in funding through fees associated with the original purchase, annual renewal, and conversion of Pet Lover's license plates from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Funding is available on a competitive basis to veterinary facilities that are registered and in good standing with the Veterinary Medical Board, overseen by a responsible licensee manager licensed and in good standing with the Veterinary Medical Board, and operated by one of the following: a California city or county; city and county; an animal care or control agency; or a nonprofit meeting the requirements of Section 501(c)(3) of the federal Internal Revenue Code that is registered and in good standing with the Secretary of State. The application deadline is January 28, 2022.

2022 PET LOVER’S TECHNICAL REVIEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The CDFA is welcoming volunteers with knowledge and expertise in California's veterinary, animal rescue/shelter, and animal services industries to serve on the 2022 Pet Lover’s Technical Review Committee (TRC). This committee reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations to CDFA on proposals submitted for funding to Pet Lover’s.

All individuals interested in serving on the TRC must submit a completed TRC Application, Conflict of Interest form, and a copy of their résumé or curriculum vitae to grants@cdfa.ca.gov before 5 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022.  TRC members will be required to complete a statement of economic interest (Form 700), and complete Ethics and Sexual Harassment Prevention trainings.

2022 PREVENTION FUND

The CDFA will begin accepting applications for the Prevention Fund on February 1, 2022.  The Prevention Fund is supported by California taxpayer contributions and anticipates awarding up to $250,000 on a competitive basis to be distributed to municipal animal control agencies, and eligible society for the prevention of animal cruelty affiliates and humane society affiliates for the sole purpose of spay and neuter activities to eliminate cat and dog homelessness. The application deadline is February 28, 2022.

You can help support the Pet Lover's License Plate program by purchasing a special interest license plate at your local DMV office or online. A purchase of a Pet Lover's License Plate helps stop pet overpopulation in California by providing funds for spay/neuter services to municipalities and non-profit organizations in California. The revenue received from the sale and renewal of the license plate is awarded annually through grant agreements to eligible organizations.
