CALIFORNIA STATE BOARD OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE TO HEAR CENTRAL VALLEY UPDATES AT WORLD AG EXPO IN TULARE ON FEBRUARY 11TH


SACRAMENTO, February 4, 2020 - The California State Board of Food and Agriculture will be holding its upcoming meeting at the World Ag Expo to hear Central Valley agricultural updates as well as discuss a variety of issues related to farm to school, workforce, dairy and economic development initiatives. The meeting will be on Tuesday, February 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the International Agri-Center (Theater), 4500 S. Laspina Street, Tulare, CA 93274.

“The World Ag Expo is a great opportunity to connect with California’s farmers and ranchers,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “I look forward to the discussions and visits with exhibitors – the Expo demonstrates the ongoing innovation and technology that is a critical part of California agriculture.

Invited speakers include: Matthew Swanson, California Water Commission; Ashley Swearengin, Central Valley Community Foundation; Tricia Stever Blattler, Tulare County Farm Bureau; Roger Isom, Western Agricultural Processors Association, Casey Creamer, Citrus Mutual; Anja Raudabaugh, Western United Dairies; Dylan Wilson, Edible Schoolyard Kern County and Hernan Hernandez, California Farmworker Foundation.

“The Central Valley is the heart of California agriculture,” said President Don Cameron, California State Board of Food and Agriculture. “The issues we are discussing and the speakers we are hearing from will provide some good perspective on the opportunities, not only agriculture but the Valley as a whole.”

The California State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the governor and the CDFA secretary on agricultural issues and consumer needs. The state board conducts forums that bring together local, state and federal government officials, agricultural representatives and citizens to discuss current issues of concern to California agriculture.

All meetings are open to the public and attendance is welcome.
