CDFA AWARDS $330,000 TO SUPPORT SPAY/NEUTER SERVICES TO HELP REDUCE PET OVERPOPULATION THROUGH THE 2019 PET LOVER’S LICENSE PLATE GRANT PROGRAM

SACRAMENTO, May 7, 2019 - The California Department of Food and Agriculture has awarded $330,000 for 11 projects that help stop pet overpopulation through spay/neuter services provided by municipalities and non-profit organizations in California.

Projects funded include voucher programs and mobile spay/neuter services, as well as projects that target reducing the number of pit bull and pit mixes being sheltered and reducing feral cat colonies in low income communities.

“We thank California’s animal lovers for supporting this worthwhile project,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross. “We look forward to continuing this partnership in the years ahead.”

The Pet Lover’s License Plate grant program is funded with proceeds generated through the sale of specialized license plates through the California Department of Motor Vehicles.  This program would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the California Spay and Neuter License Plate Fund, Inc., whose efforts helped establish the Pet Lover’s License Plate Fund.

Pet Lover’s License Plate grant program project abstracts are available online at: https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/SpayNeuter/

You can help support the Pet Lover’s License Plate program by purchasing a special interest license plate at your local DMV office or online today.
