SECRETARY KAWAMURA ANNOUNCES VACANCIES ON CALIFORNIA AVOCADO INSPECTION COMMITTEE

SACRAMENTO, CA – California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura is announcing four member vacancies on the California Avocado Inspection Committee. Appointments will be: two handler representatives, one grower representative, and one alternate handler representative.

The inspection committee is charged with making recommendations to the secretary on legislation, regulations, enforcement issues, administrative policies and procedures pertaining to the Avocado Inspection Program. The committee also recommends the annual budget and fees to provide inspection services.

The committee generally meets two times per year in Orange County. Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to payment of travel expenses. The term of office for members of the committee is two years. Individuals interested in being considered for appointment as a member or alternate member should send a resume outlining their qualifications and relevant experience including a letter of recommendation from the industry.
