SACRAMENTO, CA – California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura has announced three member vacancies and four alternate member vacancies for the Shipping Point Advisory Committee. The committee makes recommendations to the secretary on all matters pertaining to the Shipping Point Inspection Program, the annual budget, and the necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services.
Article 440571 of the Food and Agricultural Code, states that the committee is to be composed of fruit and vegetable shippers that use the inspection and certification services of the department. The term of office for a member of the committee is three years. Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to reimbursement for necessary traveling expenses.
Individuals interested in being considered for appointment as a member or alternate member should send a letter of consideration and include a letter of recommendation from the industry. Nominations will be accepted until the positions are filled. Nominations can be sent to Rick S.
