COTTON OBJECTIVE YIELD SURVEY SCHEDULED TO START IN JULY

SACRAMENTO - Beginning in late July and continuing through the growing season, representatives from the California Agricultural Statistics Service will be contacting a sample of Upland cotton growers to assist in the objective yield program.  The objective yield procedures are based on actual counts and measurements made in sample fields.  Monthly yield and production forecasts for Upland cotton will be made until harvest is completed using information from growers' fields.

All information provided by growers, as well as the observations and counts made in the fields, will be kept confidential.  Only state and national estimates will be published.  For information about the crop forecasts, please contact the California Agricultural Statistics Service at (916) 498-5161 or visit their web site at www.nass.usda.gov/ca.
