SECRETARY KAWAMURA ANNOUNCES VACANCIES ON THE STANDARDIZATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE


SACRAMENTO, CA – California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary A.G. Kawamura is announcing twelve member vacancies for the Standardization Advisory Committee.  Appointments will be made for the following: four fresh fruit representatives, four fresh vegetable representatives, one county agricultural commissioner representative, and one alternate county agricultural commissioner representative. The committee makes recommendations to the secretary of agriculture on all matters pertaining to the standardization program, annual budget, and the necessary fees to provide adequate inspection services.

Article 6.5, Section 42809 of the Food and Agricultural Code states, the Committee will be composed of individuals who have a financial interest, either personal or through their employment, in a commodity represented. The term of office for each member is two years. Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to payment of necessary traveling expenses.
