SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has scheduled a hearing to receive comments from the milk industry and the general public on whether the Dairy Council of California should be continued. Renewal hearings are scheduled every four years. The last one took place in 1999. The CDFA Secretary has the authority to renew the program.
The hearing is scheduled to occur at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 20, 2003, at CDFA offices located in the Sacramento Downtown Plaza Shopping Mall at 560 J Street, Room 397, Sacramento, California.
The purpose of the Dairy Council is to perform public outreach to educate people about the importance of milk and dairy products in a well balanced diet. These activities, which are funded by an assessment upon all California milk producers and milk processors, are frequently targeted at schools and health care organizations. For more information regarding this hearing, please contact Steven Donaldson of CDFA at (916) 341-6005.
