CDFA SECRETARY LYONS URGES PARTICIPATION IN FEDERAL CONSERVATION PROGRAMS

Nearly $100 million available to California

SACRAMENTO - CDFA Secretary William (Bill) J. Lyons, Jr. is urging California's farmers and ranchers to participate in a series of conservation programs administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service is making almost $100 million available in environmental assistance for California agriculture. The list of programs includes the Wetlands Reserve Program, the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), and grants to assist with waste management.

"Our farmers and ranchers are leaders on environmental and conservation issues,” said Secretary Lyons. “These excellent programs present additional opportunities for producers to protect the land that is so crucial to their way of life."

The USDA is currently accepting applications for a number of conservation programs.
