CALIFORNIA AGRICULTURE URGED TO ATTEND FARM BILL BRIEFING IN FRESNO

Update to be provided on programs and services

SACRAMENTO-Opportunities for California agriculture will be the focus of a farm bill briefing scheduled for February 26 in Fresno. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at California State University, Fresno.

Representatives from the USDA will be on hand to discuss agency programs, and to point out changes and new provisions in the farm bill. There will be special emphasis on non-traditional and traditionally underserved agricultural interests.

“The USDA is providing many opportunities for California farmers and ranchers to benefit from the farm bill,” said CDFA Secretary William (Bill) J. Lyons, Jr. “I welcome this upcoming briefing as part of a continuing outreach effort, and I encourage our agricultural community to attend.”

12 different agencies within USDA will participate in the briefing. There is no cost to attend. More information is available at www.usda.gov/da/briefings/briefing.htm.
