LOS ALAMITOS, October 4, 2002 – The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announce a media briefing about the recent detection of Exotic Newcastle Disease in small flocks of non-commercial backyard birds in the Los Angeles-area. The briefing will be held Friday, October 4, 2002 at 2:00 pm at the state Office of Emergency Services office, located on the Los Alamitos National Guard Reserve Base. Dr. Richard Breitmeyer, CDFA State Veterinarian, and Dr. Paul Ugstad, USDA State Veterinarian, will give an overview of the animal health investigation and will be available to provide comments.
