SACRAMENTO, August 22, 2001-CDFA Secretary William (Bill) J. Lyons, Jr. is scheduled to deliver the keynote address Thursday, August 23, at Modesto’s 40th annual Chamber of Commerce Harvest Luncheon, which is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at Graceada Park.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to speak to a distinguished group of community leaders in my home town,” said Secretary Lyons, a native of the Modesto-area. “The Harvest Luncheon is a rich tradition that helps to define our region.”
Proceeds from the Harvest Luncheon will benefit the Voss/Berryhill Modesto Junior College Ag Scholarship Fund, named for Henry Voss and Clare Berryhill, two other Modesto-area natives who served as California’s top agricultural official. Over the years, the event has raised more than $115,000 for college students.
