CDFA SECRETARY LYONS TO VISIT CENTRAL COAST FOR AGRICULTURAL TOUR

Secretary set to appear with two Assembly members in their districts



SACRAMENTO, July 31, 2001-CDFA Secretary William (Bill) J. Lyons, Jr. is scheduled to meet with Central Coast agricultural leaders during a two-day tour set for Wednesday, August 1 and Thursday, August 2.

Secretary Lyons will visit at the invitation of Democratic Assembly Members Fred Keeley and Simon Salinas, whose districts include the communities of Salinas, Watsonville, Gilroy, Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel. The planned events include a town hall-style meeting, tours of local farms and discussions with members of industry.

“The Central Coast has a rich agricultural history,” said Secretary Lyons. “I look forward to learning more about that while also getting an opportunity to talk with growers.”
