Unfortunately, everything you touch could be potentially contaminated. Avoid contact with outside birds, cages and equipment. Always clean and disinfect your hands before and after handling any birds.
Wash hands before and after touching birds.
Pay special attention to fingernails where germs can hide.

Don't allow other people to handle your birds unless they disinfect their hands. This rule applies to friends, judges at bird shows and bird groomers.
