Eupsilocephala Kröber

Eupsilocephala Kröber, 1912e: 255. Type species: Thereva singula Walker, 1848: 227.

Could be confused with: Taenogera, Johnmannia.

Systematic grouping: Taenogera genus-group.

Diagnosis: Antennae short; multiple rows of postocular setae in male and female; metallic body colouration; cell m3 open; hind femur with anteroventral apical seta; velutum patches absent on fore and hind femora and gonocoxites; gonocoxites without medial atrium; three spermathecae, spermathecal sac trilobate (each with multiple lobes).

Distribution: Queensland, Western Australia.

Comments: Closely related to Johnmannia, this genus is also highly distinctive by its metallic colouration. Males are rare in collections. Spot characters to look for when identifying this genus include velutum patches on the fore and hind femora absent, wing cell m3 open and large metallic body colouration.
