Current Quarantines
In the fall of 2007, populations of Mediterranean fruit flies were found in the cities of Dixon (Solano County) and San Jose (Santa Clara County), and Rancho Palos Verdes/Rolling Hills (Los Angeles County). Efforts to eradicate the pest have begun and regulations have been adopted to contain the pest to the localized area. Growers and residents are encouraged to contact agricultural officials before moving any host fruits and vegetables from backyards, orchards or farms in the regulated areas.
More information on the Mediterranean fruit fly quarantines can be found at "Exotic Fruit Fly Quarantines in California."
