Successful Grant Proposal

  • The San Diego Weed Management Area (SDWMA) was formed to specifically to address a 350 acre infestation of Perennial Pepperweed (Lepidium latifolium) in the San Dieguito River Park (SDRP). The SDWMA partnered with SDRP to apply for a grant through the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation, Riparian and Riverine Habitat Grant Program. Our grant proposal was accepted and our project will be funded with $372,000 over six years. A portion of this funding, $46,000 will be used for public access, trail improvements, and educational outreach. The River Park will receive $10,000 for grant administration. The remaining $316,000 is designated for habitat enhancement and restoration, specifically control of Perennial Pepperweed by the SDWMA.
