The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is the most sweeping reform of food safety laws in over 70 years. Signed January 4, 2011, by President Obama, FSMA aims to create an integrated food safety system and improve the quality of food products to the public by reducing foodborne illness.

On September 17, 2015, FDA published the final rule for Preventive Controls for Animal Food, and on November 27, 2015, they published the final rule for Produce Safety. The purpose of the informational sessions is to provide industry with an overview of the final rules and respond to questions.
