The Department of Food and Agriculture has the responsibility to examine and license County Agricultural Commissioners, County Sealers of Weights & Measures and Deputies, County Agricultural Inspector/Biologists, and County Weights & Measures Inspectors. This requirement provides for uniformity in the examination of these classifications throughout the State of California. It is essential to license the technical proficiency of county employees performing in these areas to provide adequate protection and service to the affected industries and consumers.

The County Licensing Program is administered by the County/State Liaison Office of the Department of Food and Agriculture. Testing is conducted three times a year for Agricultural and Weights & Measures Inspectors and on an annual basis for Commissioners, Sealers and Deputies.

The testing is completed in the Spring, Summer and Fall every year, usually in May, August and November.

For applications & information call the County Licensing Program at 916-653-3225 or 916-653-5866.
