SACRAMENTO, May 19, 2000– The State Board of Food and Agriculture will host a public meeting on Wednesday, May 31, 2000 in Sacramento. The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) headquarters auditorium, 1220 N Street, Sacramento.
The agenda for the board includes an update on the CALFED process and a report on the current efforts of the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom.
The State Board of Food and Agriculture advises the Governor and the Secretary of Food and Agriculture on agricultural issues and consumer needs. Board meetings bring together local, state and federal government officials, agricultural representatives and citizens to discuss current issues of concern to California agriculture. The board’s 15 members are appointed by the Governor, and are selected to represent a broad range of agricultural commodities, geographical regions, and the University of California and California State University academic systems. Members serve four-year terms without pay. There are no term limits and members do not require senate confirmation.
