Here is a fun exercise that uses time, temperature, weight, volume and count.  When you are finished, you will have dozens (a dozen is 12) of yummy cookies to share with your family and friends!

"Metric" Chocolate Chip Cookies
(U.S. Customary measure is in parenthesis)

Heat oven to 190 degrees Celsius. (375 degrees Fahrenheit)

Blend:
250 mL (1 Cup) butter or margarine, softened
175 mL (3/4 Cup) brown sugar
175 mL (3/4 Cup) white sugar

Add:
2 eggs
5 mL(1 teaspoon) vanilla extract

In a separate bowl, mix:
550 mL (2 1/3 Cups) flour
5 mL (1 teaspoon) salt
5 mL (1 teaspoon) baking soda

Slowly add flour mixture to wet ingredients.

Add:
Two 168-gram (Two (6-ounce) or one (12-ounce) packages of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
250 mL (1 Cup) chopped nuts.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 190 degrees C (375 degrees Fahrenheit) for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 100 5-centimeter ( 2 inch) cookies.
