FARM BILL: Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG)
The CIG program is new and, as yet, unfunded and undefined. This new Farm Bill feature could offer an opportunity for California to create an alternative approach to implementing state and federal conservation programs towards a working landscape, as opposed to the traditional one-dimensional approach to cropland set aside and conversion to habitat. The administration of this program is at the discretion of the Secretary of USDA.
